Recently, the 2026 Wuzhishan Top Ten Dishes and Ten Specialty Snacks Cooking Training (International) Program, organized by the Wuzhishan Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, officially commenced with foreign participants from 17 countries gathering in the city. Focusing on skills development, the program integrates elements of Wuzhishan's intangible cultural heritage and cultural tourism promotion from multiple perspectives, laying a solid foundation for attracting international talent and expanding channels for global cultural exchange.
On June 13, the first day of the program, participants joined students from the city's First Primary School at an intangible cultural heritage fair to experience local heritage projects firsthand, followed by a visit to high-altitude tea gardens where they learned about tea harvesting and processing techniques. Coinciding with World Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, international participants attended the San Yue San Square for interactive activities, singing and dancing alongside local residents in a vibrant cultural celebration.
During the core culinary training session, a series of iconic Wuzhishan dishes—including fish tea, pan-fried five-jointed pork, skin-on young yellow cattle, and crispy fried river shrimp—were prepared in sequence. Participants engaged in hands-on cooking throughout, with their creations evaluated and guided on-site by a professional tasting panel. Beyond the coursework, organizers arranged boat tours along the Nansheng River and cycling excursions along its banks to showcase the mountain city's scenery, while also hosting discussions at the Aoyi Camp with local entrepreneurs to gain insights into the current state of regional industries and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Qu Miaoran (from Indonesia), a participant in the culinary course: I'm particularly delighted to attend their training program in Wuzhishan. It allows me to learn about local cuisine and engage with locals, especially when interacting with young entrepreneurs there—I've learned that there are tremendous entrepreneurial opportunities here for foreign friends and international visitors. This provides an excellent platform for us to share insights about Wuzhishan's unique characteristics.6月16日,全部课程顺利完成,主办方为学员们颁发结业证书。
On June 16, all courses were successfully completed, and the organizers awarded graduation certificates to the participants. According to staff from the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, this international culinary training program represents both an innovative initiative to promote Wuzhishan's culinary culture, intangible cultural heritage resources, and ecological tourism appeal internationally, and a valuable effort by our city to attract skilled professionals and cultural talents. Moving forward, Wuzhishan will continue to develop an international exchange platform, deepen external cooperation, and attract more foreign professionals to pursue careers in the region.
