Haikou International Talent Hub – International Talent Exchange; May 8, 2026,18:00, Beijing; 2 participants

By Haikou International Talent Hub — Recently, a heartwarming act of compassion transcending nationalities and geographical boundaries unfolded in Hainan. An elderly man, suffering from pulmonary infection secondary to sequelae of cerebral hemorrhage, was in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and urgently required a large volume of blood transfusion. Upon learning of this situation, the "Haikou Yeah" Haikou International Talent Volunteer Service Team promptly launched a blood donation initiative, which received an enthusiastic response from volunteers from multiple countries in Hainan, who contributed their blood to sustain the patient's life. During this charitable campaign, several foreign volunteers stepped forward to help. Jan Kerekes, a Canadian volunteer who had previously participated in blood donation efforts following Typhoon Mangkhut, once again extended his helping hand. He stated that people should always support and assist one another, and he sincerely wishes the elderly man a speedy recovery. Shaikh Nazir Ahmed, a PhD candidate in Business Administration at Hainan University and a Pakistani volunteer, has previously donated blood on several occasions; this time, he traveled specifically to the blood donation center at Mingzhu Square to donate blood for the elderly man. He expressed great joy at being able to contribute his part to this effort and expressed his hope that the elderly man would overcome his illness and recover soon.

The spirit of compassion continues to grow stronger. Shaikh Nazir Ahmed proactively shared appeals for blood donations from elderly patients in multiple social media communities, encouraging more international friends to participate. Aung Ko Ko Chu, a Myanmar student at Hainan University; Md Mizanur Rahman, a Bangladesh student; and Das Narain, a Pakistani student—all voluntarily contacted the patient's family members expressing their willingness to donate blood. Since Das Narain did not meet the blood donation criteria due to his anemia, he actively mobilized his fellow countryman and classmate Ahmad Shakeel to donate blood. Volunteers Khant Min Hein from Hainan Medical University and Zohaib from Hainan Normal University subsequently joined the effort, while volunteer Abdur Rauf, located far away in Shijiazhuang, also took the initiative to express his willingness to donate, spreading kindness across great distances. These small acts of blood donation have collectively formed a powerful wave of love. Within just two days, members of the "Haikou Yeah" Haikou International Talent Volunteer Service Team and students from various countries donated a total of 2,000 milliliters of blood. This blood, imbued with international friendship and human warmth, has been continuously delivered to the bedside of critically ill elderly patients, providing a strong support for life-saving medical interventions. This transnational blood donation initiative vividly illustrates the responsibility and commitment encapsulated in the saying "Where the heart finds peace, that is home," highlighting the benevolence and warmth that transcend national borders. Volunteers of different ethnicities and nationalities have conveyed the profound love of mutual support through their voluntary blood donation actions, adding a touching layer of warmth to Haikou.
